Speedy's adventures

Flat Speedy had quite a big adventure as well. He's not used to seeing much more than our living room, and the occasional cat walking by. He seems to have had a good time, though. Look at that smile!

Days 12 & 13

Time to go home. :( We had quite an experience driving out of the park. Major traffic jam caused by buffalo, and of course we filmed it. Twice!

(Note: the date of the videos is July 8th, not 12th. It was day 12 of our trip.)

Days 9-11

Finally in Yellowstone! What an amazing place; beautiful scenery, beautiful animals.

Of course we had to stop at Old Faithful. Not to belittle the geological uniqueness of all of the geyser basins in Yellowstone, but I think I've seen (and smelled) enough to last a lifetime.

We saw tons of animals: elk, deer, buffalo, coyote, and black and grizzly bears.

And a few waterfalls . . .

Days 7 & 8

Our next stop was Jackson Hole. It was nice to sleep in a real bed for a couple of nights, and get cleaned up in a decent shower. Jackson Hole is a pretty cool town, and was packed with tourists for the July 4th weekend.

We were also able to meet up with my friend Shelby and her husband Drew. Shelby was planning her Bahamas wedding at the same time we were planning our Mexico wedding, and we met on a destination wedding chatboard. She is such a sweetie, and it worked out perfectly that she was visiting her husband in Jackson at the same time we were traveling through.

It was great hanging out with you guys, hope to see you again sometime!

Day 6

We hiked the beautiful trail around Jenny Lake in the Tetons today. Luckily, we didn't see any bears, but did come across quite a few yellow bellied marmots.

Day 5

We checked into our campsite at Signal Mountain in the Grand Tetons a few hours ago. We took the short, but beautiful, drive down to Jackson to find a computer. I wouldn't mind driving this route a few more times.

Day 4

Have you ever looked into the eye of a buffalo? Yowza.

Day 3

Sunday we stopped at Wall Drug and acted like fools.

The West is getting to Scott.
Mt. Rushmore was the next stop.

On the way to our campsite in Custer State Park, we stopped to take the trail up to Little Devil's Tower. It turned out to be a pretty rough hike, but well worth it. Look at that view!
We saw quite a few animals on our drive around the park that afternoon. This was probably the coolest sight, though.

Days 1 & 2

Day 1 was just driving through Wisconsin, Minnesota, and into Sioux Falls for the night. Day 2 we got to experience the beautiful Badlands.

We also had a close encounter with the elusive bunny rabbit. How adorable is this little guy?!
